YAG The story so far…

The Story Begins… The inaugural UKA Youth Advisory Group members first met at the UK Indoor Championships in 2011. The second cohort (of the YAG family) joined us January 2014. We, like you, spent our first meeting setting goals, collaborating ideas and getting to know each other. We also set to work on deciding on an image for the YAG.

Officials’ Conference 2011 We took a trip to the 2011 Officials’ Conference to introduce ourselves to 300 officials from across the UK. We told them all about the aims that we set in our first meeting and how we would carry them before winning them over with some officiating-specific aims…

Links To Other Committees (BA, EngA, EuroA etc) Emily and Kat attended the 2012 European Athletics Forum Emily and Vicky sat in on the BA Welfare committee Craig sat on the BA Official’s Technical Advisory Group John set up a Scottish Athletics YAG Lijana is well connected throughout working groups such as the Womens’ Coaching Advisory Group (WCAG, via Leonie Lightfoot), the European Future Group (Bill Glad), NDCP Youth Development (Scott Grace). The Officials’ Recruitment and Retention group sometimes join us during our meetings (Chris Haxell) We are also looking at representation on a regional level through the EA regional councils, after having discussions with the National Council.

YAG At Major Events Olympic and Paralympic Games – Officials and Games Makers Gateshead 2013 European Team Championships Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games – London Diamond Leagues – e.g. Birmingham, Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix – e.g. Birmingham, Sheffield National Championships – a YAG has competed in this! European Championships (Helsinki and Zurich) Major Junior Events – Sportshall Finals
