WRITING AN ARTICLE

If we look back 10 or 13 years ago how life was before the economical crisis in Spain. We found that young students were eagered to to drop-out high school the sooner the better because they only had one thing in mind to finish their studies to look for a job so the didn’t have any intention of keeping on with their education,…. When we look back in time to the early years of the 21st century, we become aware of all the changes that our society has undergone partly due to the economic crisis. In those days, a significant number of students did not see the need to go on to tertiary education and were simply eager to finish their high school studies and find a job.

It is widely believed that learning languages, in general, could be very useful for our lifes. But, why is important that people should learn a second language? Generally speaking, learning languages is believed to be useful for both our personal and professional growth. But, why have languages become so important in our lives?

It helps you to understand the dishes of the menu in a restaurant, for instance. Being able to read a second language can enable you to understand the menu in a restaurant.

First of all, knowing more languages means freedom First of all, knowing more languages means freedom. Maybe you wouldn’t leave your town to go anywhere else, but you could do it if you want to. You could go to several places that you may not imagine and understand the rest of the people. … You may not be thinking of going abroad, but being able to communicate in a second language could encourage you to do so. Once you have broken the communication barrier, travelling to places you may not have previously imagined becomes a possiblity.

Imagine that you’re in the supermarket and the new shopkeeper is a foreigner who knows nothing of your language. Imagine that you are abroad and you need to buy medicine for a rash. …

When you come from a country with a worldwide spoken language, you tend to think you don’t need other, but it isn’t true at all. It is true that speakers of English or even Spanish may not see the need to learn other tongues. These widely spoken languages can facilitate communication, but, this is not always the case.
