Weimar Republic Created in 1919 to replace the imperial form of gov’t in Germany. Faced severe hyperinflation Was a form of Democracy Often blamed for the Treaty of Versailles Also seen as a bad example of Democracy

Nationalism Germans began resenting all other nations Tired of paying them reparations New political parties are established

Problems in 1923 Rentenmark created at a value of 1 to 1 trillion. Beer Hall Putsch (Munich Putsch) Put on by Adolf Hitler Hitler was arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison 1920s German Workers Party is growing (Nazi Party)

Adolf Hitler Sentenced to 5 years. Served only about 2 years total 8 months in a cell (very comfortable) Wrote Mein Kampf while in prison The things he planned on doing in order to rebuild Germany.
