How important is scriptural Baptism? Romans 6:1-7

Rom. 6:1-7  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Baptism - its meaning “which is to dip or immerse. “ the proper mode of baptism, that being by immersion in water. 1. Not sprinkling 2. Not pouring 3. Immersion

What did Jesus command? The Lord Commanded baptism to be preached and practiced. Mark 16:15-16 Matt. 28:18-20 Luke 24:45-47

Luke 24:45-47 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

All people have sinned Rom. 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of The glory of God. All sinners Need to be baptized. Acts 22:16  And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Why are people baptized? a) To obey Jesus’ commandments Mark 16:15,16 b) To be cleansed from sin. Acts 2:38 c) To be added to the church. Acts 2:47 d) To become a new creature 2 Cor. 5:17 e) To get into Christ. Gal. 3:27 e) To have promise of going to Heaven when you die. Matt. 25:46

Who should be baptized? a) People who are lost…to be saved. Acts 22:16 b) Only believing people. Matt. 28:18-20 c) Only those who are willing people. Matt.11:28-30 All sinners! How old should one be to be baptized? When one understands he/she is a sinner, and lost because of sin. When one understands what God’s word teaches. Matt.28:18-20

When should a person be baptized? Acts 16:30-33 30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. Acts 16:25  And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Is this immersion in water important? Is it necessary? Many say it is not really important or it is important but not really necessary, which is to say, not really important. Was it important for:

2 Thessalonians 1:7-10 7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

What doth hinder you from Being baptized NOW? 2 Corinthians 6:22 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
