Welcome you today. We have only about 15 minutes, so I will jump. First, How many of you arrived in the last four days? Last 2 days? Today? This morning? I know it is hard to focus so soon, but these are key areas for today: Discuss career centers Services for international students Top T10 Tips But first, I’d like to know your employment goals? Work PT on campus? Internship or CPT? Targeting OPT but not CPT? OPT to H1B? Variety of targets and interests.

Regulations for International Students: Working on Campus F1 Visa students may work on campus no more than 20 hours weekly while classes are in session; 40 hours weekly during official class breaks. Notify ISO advisor; obtain a Social Security # (SSN) Show original documents to complete I-9 process in the Center for Career Services Passport, I-20, I-94, Visa

Eligibility for International Students to Work Off Campus Completed 2 semesters as full-time student. Enrolled full-time at GW (12 hours undergraduate) Students job experience directly relates to his/her academic studies May or may not be paid Must occur for minimum of 10 weeks or 100 hours between the first and last day of semester’s classes. Student must apply to work off campus via ISO per your visa Academic relevance must be demonstrated

Regulations for International Students: Work Off Campus F-1 International Students: CPT #1. Confirm eligibility with International Services Office (ISO): meet with ISO Advisor to confirm your option for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) #2. Read ISO instructions carefully: each school has unique academic qualifications and processes Enroll in curricular course or Co-op, obtain letter of enrollment, request faculty letter, job offer #3. Apply for CPT through ISO Cooperative Education (Co-op) = “internships”
