Presentation transcript:

Lymphoedema is a condition where fluid gets collected in the body tissues, generally legs and arms, causing swelling. 'Edema' means the collection of fluid in the tissues. The condition is a result of blockage in the lymphatic system, when the lymph in our tissues doesn't get drained properly and gets accumulated causing the body part to swell.

Lymphoedema Lymphoedema may be a result of cancer or the procedure of treating cancer as the build-up of lymph in the tissues is basically a result of damaged or improper functioning of lymph vessels, which are responsible for draining the lymph fluid back into the blood stream.

The condition can be further controlled by using the best treatment for Lymphoedema.treatment for Lymphoedema Specialists may suggest the following methods. Exercise Compressing Body Part

The doctor may suggest some daily exercises that are helpful in reducing further accumulation of lymph and keeping the fluid-flow normal in the body. Some other simple exercises may also be suggested to drain the fluid out of the body part. Exercise

In this technique, the leg or the arm is wrapped around with a compression bandage or tight stocking to reduce the swelling and drain the lymph fluid. Massaging the body part may also be helpful in reducing swelling and draining the fluid. Some specialist may also use the tapes to wrap the body part. Compressing Body Part
