Building the SCDN Learning Community - Sharing Expertise September 2007

June 2007 SCDN Feedback Continue to develop our own Learning Community Provide more professional development opportunities for members Build our members’ capacity Use protocols/structures to facilitate sharing among members

June 2007 SCDN Feedback Cross pollinate through mixed groups by providing opportunities for members to interact with others outside of their immediate regions. Find “buddies” with similar interests Collect information from the people in this room. “Who is the person to go to for…….” “Strengths……………”

Sharing Expertise with a Partner “Buddy up” with someone outside of your region. Take turns sharing one program you have developed in your region that you are most proud of (10 minutes per person). How did you build local support for this program? How do you sustain it?

Sharing Expertise with Your Group – Table Sharing Each person will take one minute to briefly describe the program he/she has implemented ( 8 minutes). Once everyone at the table has shared, table members can ask follow-up questions about specific programs (total of 20 minutes). A recorder should complete the chart listing all of the programs shared at the table.

Agenda for Sharing Expertise 1:15 – 1:45 Transition from lunch and break into pairs. Pair with someone outside of your region Review June 2007 Feedback 1:45 – 2:05 Pair Sharing 2:05 – 2:35 Table Sharing 2:35 – 2:45 Closing Comments

SCDN Expertise Directions: Select a recorder for each table and complete the form for each program shared. Program BOCES/City/Agency Contact Person
