Phases of Training Training can take place at 3 times of the training year these are Preparation period – Pre season Competition period – During the season Transition period – Off season Competition Period Task With your shoulder partner number yourself 1-2 You will each be required to read over a paragraph on the Preparation period After reading the paragraph return to your partner and explain what you have read You will work alternatively and have 30s to read the paragraph, you will each go twice On completion you will have to write your own explanation of the Preparation period

Phases of Training Competition Period During the competition period you maintain your physical fitness. Your aim is to ensure that you benefit from your pre-season training during the competitive phase of the season. Within the competitive period there may be particular competitions / fixtures of special importance. You will want to ‘peak’ for these competitions. In peaking for a special performance you fine tune your preparation with a special event or competition in mind. Part of your preparation will involved a period of ‘tapering down’ your training before hand to avoid fatigue.

Phases of Training Transition Period Task With your shoulder partner number yourself 1-2 You will each be required to read over a paragraph on the Preparation period After reading the paragraph return to your partner and explain what you have read You will work alternatively and have 30s to read the paragraph, you will each go twice On completion you will have to write your own explanation of the Preparation period
