What is Voice Options Connecting Californians with Speech Language Disabilities to iPads with Speech Applications Pilot Program of the California Public Utilities Commission Launched by CFILC January 11th 2017 Provided by 10 Demonstration sites statewide

It’s a PILOT! We are piloting a distribution model with 10 sites located at Independent Living Centers & Assistive Technology Centers statewide We are collaborating with the Communication Technology Education Center to train staff on how to provide Demonstrations of iPads/Apps We are collaborating with WestEd to independently evaluate the program design, distribution and outcomes We have developed a website & outreach materials, applications etc.

Pilot Limitations We have 200 iPads for Long-Term Loan Demo sites are contracted through September 30, 2017

How Does Voice Options Work?? If you or someone you know has a speech disability this program is for you.

How Does Voice Options Work?? Step One: Find a demonstration center and schedule a demonstration. If a demonstration center is not located near by then call the nearest Voice Options center and set up a remote demonstration appointment.

How Does Voice Options Work?? Step Two: Experience a demonstration of the five speech applications on an iPad. Bring Family Members, caregiver or friends.

How Does Voice Options Work?? Step Three: After the demonstration, if you think a speech app would work for you, borrow an iPad with the speech apps to use in your everyday life for two weeks to 30 days. If you feel like you need more information on how to use one of the applications please call the Voice Options center and arrange a time for more training. There are other accessory items that you can borrow.

How Does Voice Options Work?? Step Four: If you find one or more of the speech apps help you communicate, you can apply to borrow an iPad with your favorite speech app for a long-term loan.

Voice Options – Process Demonstration Short-Term Loan A 14 to 30 Day Loan Long-Term Loan As long as the individual is using the iPad and App they may keep it as long as needed.
