Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): Barcodes RFID Summary NFC iBeacon Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): What is BLE? Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth 4.0) is a new standard in Bluetooth technology that allows devices to send and receive data using a small amount of energy. What is iBeacon? iBeacons are basically an Apple brand name given to technology that improves location awareness in mobile devices and apps via BLE. When a BLE enabled device is near, iBeacons can transmit content to it and vice versa, the device can transmit to the iBeacon as well. Standard BLE has a broadcast range of up to 100 meters, which make Beacons ideal for indoor location tracking and awareness.
