What is KnowHow2Go? A multiyear, multimedia effort includes television, radio and outdoor public service advertisements (PSAs) that encourage 8th through 10th graders to prepare for college using four simple steps Launched in January 2007 by the American Council on Education, Lumina Foundation for Education and the Ad Council Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) is the lead partner for the KnowHow2GO campaign in Michigan.  Talking points: -KnowHow2GoMichigan.org is Michigan’s KnowHow2Go resource -The Michigan College Access Network, Michigan’s statewide college access and success coordinating organization, is the lead partner for KH2GOMichigan and they maintain this website. © 2011, Michigan Campus Compact. KnowHow2Go’s 4 Steps to College Step 1 – Be a Pain! Let everyone know that you’re going to college and need their help. Step 2 – Push Yourself! Working a little harder today will make getting into college even easier. Step 3 – Find the Right Fit!  Find out what kind of school is the best match for you and your career goals. Step 4 – Put Your Hands on Some Cash! If you think you can’t afford college, think again. There’s lots of aid out there. Talking points: -KnowHow2Go has four key steps for youth to follow when planning for college -These steps are meant to be short, easy to remember and are designed to address some of the largest barriers to college: family and friend support, academic preparedness, fear/culture shock, and financial barriers Discussion questions: -Which of these steps would have been most helpful to you when you were doing your college search? -When volunteering with K-12 youth, what are the largest barriers to college that they face? Which steps could help them the most? © 2011, Michigan Campus Compact. All rights reserved
