HMS 8th Grade Registration Timeline: 2017 February 7th: High School Counselors will meet with middle school students to help explain registration process in large group. February 14th: Registration paperwork due back to students math teacher in 8th grade.

Required Freshmen Classes One Credit of Language 9 One Credit of Physical Education 9 One Credit of Biology (I & II) One Credit of Math Current Math performance may influence placement 0.5 Credit of Social Studies 9 or Honors SS 9 0.5 Credit of Health 0.5 Credit of Computer Applications 2.5 Additional Credits of electives Students may be placed in Support classes for Language 9 and/or Algebra if needed. Based on test scores and teacher recommendation. Students will receive elective credit for these classes and will be notified by formal letter this summer.

Note on Schedule Changes! The following are legitimate reasons for class changes IF class size allows it: To meet graduation requirements You failed a course and need to get it into your schedule Did not meet prerequisite for course To improve the rigor of your course selection Computer error in your schedule Make adjustments for Youth Options/Youth Apprenticeship/course options Lack of foundational skills Schedule changes will NOT be made for lunch changes, to be with friends, to switch hours, and/or to switch teachers Students who request a change, will need to fill out a Schedule Change form (available in the Student Services Office) & return the form with a parent signature.

Math Tutoring: M-F before school M-Th: after school Advisory everyday during the school day 9th grade individual grade checks (weekly with counselor) Individual Teachers available before or after school Office Hours are posted on their classroom door. LMC open 7-4 (computers, help with research, study area) ESL services TAG/Advanced Placement/Youth Options Coordinator Case Manager for those with IEP’s
