Week 19 Psalms

Psalm 8: How Majestic Is Your Name To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David. 1 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. 2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? 5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, 7 all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. 9 O Lord, our Lord,

Psalm 9: I Will Recount Your Wonderful Deeds To the choirmaster: according to Muth-labben. A Psalm of David. Tell among the peoples his deeds!      12     For he who avenges blood is mindful of them;      1     I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.      13     Be gracious to me, O Lord! I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. See my affliction from those who hate me,      2     I will be glad and exult in you; O you who lift me up from the gates of death, I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.      14     that I may recount all your praises,      3     When my enemies turn back, that in the gates of the daughter of Zion they stumble and perish before your presence. I may rejoice in your salvation.      4     For you have maintained my just cause;      15     The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment.      5     You have rebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish; in the net that they hid, their own foot has been caught.      16     The Lord has made himself known; he has executed judgment; you have blotted out their name forever and ever.      6     The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins; the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands. Higgaion. Selah their cities you rooted out; the very memory of them has perished.      17     The wicked shall return to Sheol,      7     But the Lord sits enthroned forever; all the nations that forget God. he has established his throne for justice,      18     For the needy shall not always be forgotten,      8     and he judges the world with righteousness; and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever. he judges the peoples with uprightness.      19     Arise, O Lord! Let not man prevail;      9     The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, let the nations be judged before you! a stronghold in times of trouble.      20     Put them in fear, O Lord!      10     And those who know your name put their trust in you, Let the nations know that they are but men! Selah for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.      11     Sing praises to the Lord, who sits enthroned in Zion!

Psalm 13: How Long, O Lord? To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.      1     How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?      2     How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day?           How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?      3     Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,      4     lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.      5     But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.      6     I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
