THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Psalm 28:7; 119:11 The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in God, and I am forgiven. My heart is glad and I will give thanks to God in song. Your Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against You.
THE CHANCEL CHOIR ‘MAKE ME A BLESSING’ Make me a blessing; Out of my life May Jesus shine. Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray.
THE HOLY SCRIPTURE Psalm 51:1-12 Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your unfailing love; according to Your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that You are proved right when You speak and justified when You judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Surely You desire truth in the inner parts; You teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; Let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
THE SONG OF PREPARATION #493 ‘GLORY TO HIS NAME’
(1) Down at the cross where my Savior died, Down where for cleansing from sin I cried, There to my heart was the blood applied; Glory to His name. Glory to His name,
(2) I am so wondrously save from sin, Jesus so sweetly abides within, There at the cross where He took me in; Glory to His name. Glory to His name, There to my heart was the blood applied;
(3) O precious fountain that saves from sin, I am so glad I have entered in; There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean; Glory to His name. Glory to His name, There to my heart was the blood applied;
(4) Come to the fountain so rich and sweet; Cast your poor soul at the Savior’s feet; Plunge in today and be made complete; Glory to His name. Glory to His name, There to my heart was the blood applied;

AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS.” The 6th petition of The Lord’s Prayer, “FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS.” “For if you forgive others when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins against you, your heavenly Father will not forgive your sins.”
FIVE NEW TESTAMENT GREEK WORDS FOR SIN: #1 “Hamartia” (missing the target) #2 “Parabasis” (stepping across) #3 “Paraptoma” (swept away) #4 “Anomia” (breaking the rule of law) #5 “Opheilema” (debit; debt, negative entry) Note: #5 is a Greek Accounting term for debit. It is the word for sin used in the Lord’s Prayer.
Divine forgiveness and human forgiveness are INEXTRICABLY WOVEN TOGETHER AS ONE.
for OUR attitudes and actions too easily; As it applies to OTHERS, C.S. Lewis said: “As it applies to US, we NURTURE OUR reasons for OUR attitudes and actions too easily; As it applies to OTHERS, we REJECT THEIR reasons for THEIR attitudes and actions too quickly.”
LIKE GOD WANTS US TO BE THAN WHEN WE ARE NEVER MORE LIKE GOD WANTS US TO BE THAN WHEN >> the debits, >> the negative entries, >> and the wrongs are made right >> and our relationships are back in balance and peace > with God, > with others, > with ourselves.
OUR FATHER WHO ART IN HEAVEN: Forgive us for that which we have done to offend You, sins that have moved us from a balanced relationship with You to an out-of-balance relationship with You, sins for which we are now IN DEBT to You.
We understand that You will forgive the sins that have caused us to be in debt to You, on the condition that we forgive those who have sinned against us, that is, OUR DEBTORS, those who are in debt to us, those who are out of balance with us because of the wrongs they have committed against us.
The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME. THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS; AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL. FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY FOREVER AMEN.

THE CLOSING HYMN #343
(1) Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind but now I see. (2) ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed.
(3) The Lord has promised good to me; His Word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. (4) Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; ‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home.
(5) When we’ve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun.
