Can you live on $800/month, if needed? Are you planning on becoming pregnant? Do you have a long-term chronic medical condition? Are you planning to retire soon? Do you have a savings cushion? Do you have a lot of non-negotiable monthly expenses? UCSB Disability Services Example- Uncomplicated Pregnancy An employee who accrues sick leave is having an uncomplicated Pregnancy and Delivery (she is off work 2 weeks prior to her due date and 6 weeks pp). She is enrolled in Voluntary Short-Term Disability and has 5 sick days accrued. 2 weeks prior to your due date and 6 weeks pp or 8 if c-section 14 calendar day waiting period 11 This presentation is intended for communication purposes only, it is not a guarantee of benefits. UCSB Disability Services Example- Car Accident An employee who accrues sick leave was in a serious car accident and, as a result of their injuries, they are unable to work for three months (12 weeks).
