Good News Stories What we have achieved since December 2011:- Launch of the Food Rescue Cargo Carts in the CBD. Over 35,000 items rescued 2015/2016 18 corporates in the CBD as volunteers, including Principal Partner Alinta Energy 4 schools volunteer, including St Stephens who train in from Carramarr 38 CBD cafes participate in giving food Food Rescue volunteer drivers take the food from the carts direct to several refuges and homeless centres by 5pm each weekday.

Good News Stories Volume of food rescued has grown from 3,500kgs in 2011 to 500,400 kgs per annum reaching over 11,500 people per week. This equates to over 1 million meals per year.

Good News Stories Charities (recipient agencies) receiving free food have increased from 4 in 2011 to78 in 2017. Each agency receives the food as a free service, saving them each thousands of dollars per year. Two agencies serving soup kitchens 6 days/week: Manna Inc – Received over 11,000 kgs in 2015/2016 equivalent to $40,000 The Salvo’s – Received over 15,000 kgs in 2015/2016 equivalent to $52,500

Good New Stories Grant from Waste Authority of WA, has enabled a recycling station be established to recycle 7 types of plastics. Plastics & packaging from supermarkets sent to landfill Now recycling 4 cubic metres of all plastics & packaging received from supermarket collections. Partnership with The Forum Group On average 2,000kgs of organic waste sent to landfill Aerobic Digester (ORCA) in place at Belmont Warehouse to convert all organic waste into water and send to the municipal stream.

Good News Stories Cool rooms are integral to the Food Rescue operation as food needs to be stored overnight before delivery the next day. Clayton Utz have supported the purchase of all the cool rooms since 2011.
