2017 Convening & Collaborating (C2) Awards Program Scope and Eligibility Criteria October 11, 2016

Webinar Agenda Purpose of the Program Objectives Award Amount and Duration Eligibility Requirements Review Process Key Competition Dates How to Apply Contact Information

Purpose of the Program The MSFHR C2 Awards: Further research by promoting knowledge exchange between health researchers and research users. Provide support to plan research programs, projects, and/or activities between researchers and research users. Contribute to the advancement of KT by providing health researchers the opportunity to collaborate with research users.

Objectives of C2 Awards Primary: Secondary: To support health researchers and research users to come together to plan and/or conduct activities for the development and use of research evidence in practice and/or policy. Secondary: To build capacity in KT experience and skills for research or health professional trainees.

Award Amount and Duration The budget envelope for this funding opportunity is $225,000 - enough to fund about 15 awards. Maximum amount per award is $15,000 over 12 months. Funding Decisions: MSFHR will aim to fund at least one award in each of the five BC health system priority areas. Final allocation contingent on applications received and outcome of review process.

Eligibility Requirements The proposal must directly address at least one of the Five BC health system priorities: Enhance access to effective primary care Services for seniors with complex medical conditions Mental health/substance use care Services for patients needing surgery Rural and remote health care services

Eligibility Requirements (cont’d) Your team must include: A minimum of one BC-based researcher AND one BC-based research user as the co-leads. A minimum of one BC research or health professional trainee included in a meaningful way to enhance their KT experience and skills.

Eligibility Requirements (cont’d) At least one co-lead (either researcher or research user) must be affiliated with a BC host institution that has a signed memorandum of understanding with MSFHR to administer award funds. One in-person meeting must be part of the proposed work and must take place in BC within the 12-month period of the award. All award funds must be used in BC. Co-leads are limited to two applications per competition but may hold only one C2 award at a time.

Definitions Researcher: an individual who holds, or has recently held, research operating funds as either a principal or co-investigator at the time this competition closes. Research User: is the target audience(s) of research evidence. Research users are experts on their needs, environment and local context. Including research users as equal members of the research team will ideally result in more relevant research evidence and an increased likelihood of its use for the purpose of making informed decisions about health policies, programs and/or practices. Research/Health Professional Trainee: can include undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral and/or clinical fellows.

Word of Advice If you have acquired or plan to acquire additional sources of funding, upload letter(s) of support to confirm in-kind or other resources. Co-Lead(s) and team member(s) MUST complete their task in the MSFHR ApplyNet for the Lead to submit the full application. Multiple research user team members from the same organization submit only one letter of support. Research user team members from multiple organizations submit a letter of support from each organization.
