You need more than education to have a satisfying and rewarding life You need to follow your passions You need to have strong relationships You need to have goals that help you move forward You need to have a life’s mission that will help you determine your path
What do most jobs require? Most jobs require a high school diploma Community colleges offer certificates and Associate degrees, they are 2 year schools Universities offer bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees, they are 4 year schools If you go to community college then transfer to a university then it is only 2 more years at the university to earn your bachelors’ degree.
Other Training Options Apprenticeship- you spend part of your time on the job and part in the classroom. You will earn 40-60% of a normal salary while you are still learning. Military- provides training for specific jobs and help with tuition once you fulfill your commitment.
Outline your plan for your future You need to consider at least the 4 following factors for each of your ten year plan. Education/Training Living arrangements Employment Finances Next year your 10 year plan does NOT become a 9 year plan, you plan for another year. You will be planning for the future until you no longer have one. I think when you’re 90 years old you can stop planning
Success Your definition of success and mission in life will change over time It is false if you think success only counts if you achieve it with out asking for help. We all need help along the way.
Examples of delaying gratification Living in a smaller place with roommates to save money instead of living in a more luxurious place Taking honres classes at the expense of having extra time to socialize Resisting impulse buys to build your savings. An example of not delaying gratification is participating in fun extracurricular activities now with plans to join activities more relevant to your career path.
Overcoming anxiety The best way to overcome anxiety is to Anticipate it Face it Take personal responsibility for overcoming it
