Simple Strategies for Monitoring Student Growth: Validate yourself!! Niki Bray Memphis Central High School DLD 9/20/13 Southwind High School

Objectives: Provide teachers with simple strategies to monitor student growth. Encourage teachers to share strategies used in their classrooms. Discuss the importance of validating instructional strategies.

Evaluation connections: TEACH 1 – All students can describe how their learning will be assessed. TEACH 3 – Teacher engages students in appropriately challenging work by: • ensuring the lesson includes appropriately complex text, tasks, and activities that move students beyond their current mastery level • ensuring all students (at low, middle, and high achieving levels) move beyond current mastery levels

GRADECAM An excellent way to organize data and view results. There is a free version (10 question limit). Great way to use charts and graphs to illustrate student growth. www.gradecam.com
