Examinations and Assessment All examinations are 60 minutes in duration Each exam is worth 25% of the final GCSE (all students will take 3 exams per course) Students can take Higher tier papers (A*- D) or Foundation tier papers (C – G) Controlled assessments make up the last 25%. These are carried out in school under controlled conditions and will be completed early in the Spring term It is essential that students attend their Science Controlled Assessment day, as this is the only opportunity to complete this section of the GCSE Science course

Revision Guidance and Sessions The AQA website for past papers is a useful resource and this website also has the specifications for the content required BBC Bitesize GCSE Science has been updated to include the new content Any Science revision guide that contains the courses for examination from 2014 is appropriate. CGP seemed to be the most user friendly Revision/intervention sessions will be hosted by the Science Department after school and all year 11 additional classes should complete the content for all but one unit by Christmas. 50% of lessons will then be intervention focussing on exam technique. We really appreciate your support in encouraging your son/daughter to make the most of what is on offer to ensure maximum potential is achieved in Science
