A Levels and BTEC We offer a wide range of course at Post 16. These include both A Level and BTEC courses. A Levels are academic subjects BTECs are vocational subjects In Key Stage 5 the emphasis of success is put more onto students, with support and guidance from the Sixth Form Team.

How Sixth Form Works? Vertical tutor groups: Tutor groups are a mix of Year 12 and 13 so as to integrate and support each other. We try to place you into tutor groups with your friends. There is a wide range of activities in tutor time; including games and competitions, support and guidance and development of skills needed to be successful in KS5 and beyond.

What do we mean by Support and Guidance in the Sixth Form All of you want to be successful and go on to live happy and fulfilled lives beyond Barclay. The Sixth Team see it as their primary job to enable you to do this whether it be apprenticeships, university, work or travel. We offer support and guidance for all these aspects and more: From dedicated careers advice service to an Academic Tutor for UCAS applications.

Resources in the Sixth Form We have an Independent Study room and a Supervised Study room. Dedicated Sixth Form computers. A Sixth Form team and PSL who look after you. Outside speakers and opportunities for you get involved with lots of organisations and experiences. New Sixth Block.

Work Experience Work Experience is offered during the summer term of Year 12. This is to help develop your goals and vision of what you might want to do after Sixth Form. We have lots of links with local and national businesses and companies to give you opportunities.

Prefects and Head Students We have a prefect team, who perform duties around the school and who have a greater voice with regards to decisions being made in school. Head students: this year we have 3 Head Students and 3 Deputy Head Students. They have dedicated areas in which they input to the school. They sit on the school council and feedback to the Governors of the school. They also organise the social activities for the Sixth Form: Summer Ball, Leavers, fund raising and Sixth Form trips.

We Want You!!! At Barclay we want you to stay and study with us in KS5. We offer varied pathways so as to best suit you as an individual. These include for the first time Level 2 BTEC courses.

Students say that the sixth form is a safe place and that bullying is very rare. Assemblies and personal, social and health education lessons help them to improve their understanding of how to be safe and prepare for life in modern Britain. For example, leadership opportunities include becoming a senior prefect or acting as a mentor for the younger pupils. (Ofsted 2016)
