WW1 Battlefields trip 2017 Welcome!

Student Code of Conduct For Health and Safety. Students to go round in groups of 3 or more Seat belts on coach Fire talk by hotel on arrival Lock hotel rooms and no room swapping Listen carefully to instructions e.g. meeting time Emergency cards with Miss Garvie’s phone will be given out on the 8th June

Student Code of Conduct- parents please sign both forms and keep 1 copy For a Smooth trip No alcohol, cigarettes or illegal substances. Damages to hotel rooms will be at parental cost- please tell staff on arrival of breakages. Follow teachers’ and Guide’s instructions. Be mindful of other visitors who may be wishing for a restful quiet stay in Ypres! Hotel has a quiet policy after 10-00 p.m.

Passport and EHIC cards Please hand in to Miss Garvie passports and EHIC cards week of 22nd May They will be kept in school safe until departure and then returned to pupils on coach at end of trip. If you require passports for a family holiday at half-term please let me know asap and hand in 5th June.

Spare socks/ trousers Toiletries including suntan lotion. European adaptor Bath towel Prescribed medicines; inhalers; travel sickness pills if required. Packed lunch for journey on 8th and snacks ( NO NUTS as we have pupils with nut allergies ) DVDs/ ipod.( optional) Details of relatives graves to visit Money (English and euros) Please note that I do not recommend that a mobile phone is brought ( school insurance does not cover it)

Commonwealth War Graves Commission Please follow the link above to trace the cemetery of ancestors that are commemorated in/ around the Ypres or Somme area. We will do our utmost to pay our respects if we are provided with the name and location. Any pupil wishing to lay a wreath( provided by school) should see Miss Garvie to put their name forward. Please note that uniform must be worn if you have volunteered to lay the wreath at the Menin Gate Ceremony.

First Aid First Aid trained- Miss Garvie. Basic kit supplied with plasters, bandages Headache pills/ imodium/ piriteze Written parental permission to administer paracetamol or prescription medicines. Please read and return signed agreement form. EHIC card for visits to doctor or hospital In the case of a visit to the hospital then Miss Garvie will keep parents informed.

Drop off/ Pick up Thursday 8th June- bring cases to school for 5- 00 a.m. Please hand any spare medication ( labelled) to Miss Garvie Sunday 11th June- Arrive back at 7-15 pm Please park cars off drive so coach can pull in. Am email will be sent to parents on our arrival at Ypres ( any concerns please see contact number page) Pupils- please do not take Monday off school!

Spending Money Approx 40 in Euros. Students may wish to buy food and drinks at the English services and on the ferry (£20) ie. Sunday pre-tea. Pocket Money bank will operate each day Money to be banked en route to Dover Pocket bank funds will be kept safely in hotel along with passports Snacks and drinks( evening meal only includes tap water) Souvenirs/ gifts at Museum Chocolate shop Vending machine at accommodation
