What does a school day look like at CJMS? Students have 7 periods a day (which usually means 7 different teachers). Students have each class everyday. Classes are 45 minutes in duration. Students get five minutes between classes. Students have physical education and an arts elective every day. Students have PRIDE everyday. PRIDE lasts 17 minutes. Silent Reading; study time; get help from teachers; visit the library; school-wide instruction on important topics.

Other differences from Elementary School Students have lockers and need to know how to use a combination lock. Students socialize at lunchtime instead of recess. Students can participate in many after school activities. Some students become bus riders for the first time.

Academic Electives Offered at CJMS Options for 6th Grade: Digital Literacy – a computer driven course for today’s students or World Language Level 1A French 1A (full year) Spanish 1A (full year) Chinese 1A (full year) Students will take level 1A in 6th grade and level 1B in 7th grade and level 2AB in 8th grade.
