Storm Hardening & Preventative Measures for 2007 Storm Season Benefits of the AT&T/BellSouth merger: Unified network managerial control facilitating efficiency Local Mobility Long-distance Custom-built emergency communications vehicles with satellite uplink facilities

Storm Hardening & Preventative Measures for 2007 Storm Season Custom-built emergency communications vehicles A National Disaster Recovery (NDR) Emergency Communications Vehicle at the Miami, FL demonstration site. The van is used to establish voice and data communications to a recovery site using a satellite link to the AT&T Network. AT&T has a fleet of custom-built emergency communications vehicles with satellite uplink facilities that can be immediately deployed to establish command centers and communications capabilities. These are fully-equipped, completely self-sufficient centers. They are equipped with generators, a satellite dish for constant communications, LAN connectivity and a PBX phone system, and provide room for more than thirty (30) technicians.

Storm Hardening & Preventative Measures for 2007 Storm Season Since the last hurricane season, AT&T has: Purchased 158 additional portable generators for regional deployment Added more than 30 portable generators to local inventories for Florida Installed permanent generators at more than 175 strategic remote terminal sites in Florida The increased availability of back-up power will minimize outages.
