EGI InSPIRE SA3 / WP6 Update IT-EC project meeting, 21st May Status; CERN Responsibilities; Budget; People; Next

Status Starting – significant overhead & many uncoordinated meetings in Amsterdam (“where else”) . DoW & other docs pass via DavidF. Startup blues? CERN does? WP leader; task leaders of “Applications” (Ganga/Diane + Dashboards) + Services for LHC VOs. N.B. Lack of ROSCOE funding still not resolved. GETS? Explicit D&M: services for HEP (M4) + annual report (M11); implicit D&M: (almost) all Many other “WLCG” functions – e.g. relationship with OSG, USAG replacement, WLCG operations contact to EGI OPS; also EGI TF (+UF?). Full extent not yet known.  Budget Managed by Dita: understood in EUR & PM (342/341). Detailed plan: constant revision The budget for HUCs was “agreed” to be EUR5M – we got << ½. SA3: 1875/2254KCHF EGI InSPIRE SA3 is not an extension of EGEE NA4. Free-rides are over. People CERN people: Jamie, Maria, Julia, Massimo EU funded: 3 FELL + DOCT from current round; 3 LDs + 6PM; remaining FELLs (+INFN) Next steps VO services: regular meetings with computing coordinators of LHC experiments to agree priorities and assignments – the “overhead” of e.g. D4 to be understood; More general goals: AMB Wed; TLM June 10 – activity workplans expected on this timescale (not yet started). Preparation for EGI TF starting… (1/2 day for HUCs) Task 2: shared services (~all partners & disciplines); Tasks 3-6: synergies? Issues Communication – quantity & quality; One example is meeting preparation. Meetings – can’t all be in Amsterdam (without remote participation offered); Transition – this is a big on-going concern: we are still discovering the holes; Dumping – I guess you got the message… (WLCG daily & fortnightly meetings) Opportunities Wait for first TLM… Manpower for Applications & Dashboards < threshold (depending on demands from other communities); LHC VO support will help but stretched.

Status Starting – significant overhead & many uncoordinated meetings in Amsterdam (“where else”) . DoW & other docs pass via DavidF. Startup blues? Agreed this week to hold AMB meetings every Wednesday at 09:00! CERN does? WP leader; task leaders of “Applications” (Ganga/Diane + Dashboards) + Services for LHC VOs. N.B.
