A Local History Project By Laura and Tara (5th) Esk Wind Farm A Local History Project By Laura and Tara (5th)

About It was set up on Monday 15th of March 2010 in Co. Cork. It has a total of 8 wind turbines. Each one with a maximum height of 126m and a rotor diameter of 82m. They are currently building more wind turbines there.

How does a wind turbine work? Wind turbines harness the power of the wind and use it to generate electricity. Instead of using electricity to make wind, wind turbines use wind to make electricity. The energy in the wind turns two or three propeller blades around a rotor.

Where Does the Energy Go? The power is directed to the National Grid where it will be distributed to homes and could be powering your T.V or fridge.

Esk Wind Farm is located in Naad.
