Broadway Broadway theatre, commonly known as Broadway, refers to the theatrical performances presented in the 40 professional theatres. Along with London's West End theatres, Broadway theatres are widely considered to represent the highest level of commercial theatre in the English-speaking world. Cabaret The play was put on Broadway in 1966. The play was based on John Van Druten's 1951 play I Am a Camera, which was adapted from the short novel Goodbye to Berlin The play was about 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, it is based in nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, and revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. The play showed how Germany was like when Nazis were rising to power. It shows you how the war is still having an impact on Americans in 60s because they were loads of plays that were also made around the was like Fiddler on the roof and Oliver Twist. Oliver! Oliver Twist is sold to a Dunstable undertaker after asking for more dinner at the orphanage. Escaping to London he is taken in by Fagin to join his gang of child pickpockets. Wrongly accused of a theft he meets a more kindly gentleman who takes him in, to the concern of one of Fagin's old pupils, the violent Bill Sykes. In the middle is Nancy, Sykes' girl whom Oliver has come to trust. Oliver! is an English musical, with music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. The musical is based upon the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, set in the 1830s. It premiered in the West End in 1960, enjoying a long run, and successful long runs on Broadway, tours and revivals, after being brought to the US by producer David Merrick in 1963. Fiddler on the Roof Fiddler on the Roof," a musical about a small Russian Jewish village, opens and is a huge hit. Came on Broadway in 1964 Had the first musical theatre run in history to beat 3,000 performances. Fiddler held the record for the longest-running Broadway musical for almost 10 years until Grease beat its run. It remains Broadway's sixteenth longest-running show in history. How does this help me Looking at loads of different posters and researching about different plays, This helps me with my production role and how I can improve my posters better. Looking at different posters you can see that they all use really abstract colours or odd colours like in the Oliver! poster and Fiddler on the Roof, They also did fit a lot of information about like the actor, the music, venue and etc.… it helps me with the type of information I should put on the posters but it also shows me how time has changed and how styles for poster are much different to what they where in the 1960s like Fiddler on the roof, Sweet Charity and etc..
