Act IV, Scene 1 Macbeth revisits the witches. Setting: a cavern with a boiling cauldron Macbeth revisits the witches. a floating head warns him to beware Macduff. a bloody child tells him he won’t be defeated by someone born from a woman a crowned child holding a tree tells him that he is safe until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane Hill. a procession of eight crowned kings walks by, the last carrying a mirror. Banquo’s ghost walks at the end of the line. The witches vanish before explaining the last vision. 

Setting: Fife. Macduff’s castle Act IV, Scene 2 Lady Macduff comforts and is comforted by her young son after being told Macduff is an accused traitor. Although warned by the Thane of Ross to escape before it is too late, Lady Macduff is encountered by Macbeth's henchmen, who brutally kill both her and her son.

Act IV, Scene 3 Malcolm (Duncan’s son) tests the loyalty of Macduff. Setting: England. In front of the King’s palace Act IV, Scene 3 Malcolm (Duncan’s son) tests the loyalty of Macduff. Malcolm makes Macduff angry at Macbeth. Ross tells Macduff that his family has been killed. Macduff joins the rebel army and also declares revenge against Macbeth. England’s king (Edward the Confessor) is helping Malcolm.

This can be done in pairs. Activity Choices Be a Lawyer Therapy Decide whether to defend or prosecute Lady Macbeth. Compile evidence to support your claim. Be prepared to argue claims of the opposition. At least a half of a page. Write out a script of a therapy session between either Macbeth and Lady Macbeth or Macbeth and Banquo. Write evidence to the side. At least a half of a page. This can be done in pairs.
