Everything Shakespeare and Elizabethan Theatre WebQuest

Introduction Shakespeare: The man, the myth (as some scholars believe), the legend. Before we begin our study of Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, it is your job to weigh in about England’s greatest playwright and poet.

Task We will learn about Shakespeare’s profound impact on our language and culture, but first let’s find out more about the man, his life, his work, and the England in which he lived. Click on the link to download the questions… Print out the questions or type the answers in the Word document as you follow along.

Part I: His early Life Please watch the video first to begin answering questions 1-10. Then click on the pictures to find more answers for questions 1- 10. Click on each picture and you will be directed to the video / website. Video Link #1 Link # 2

Part II: The Theatre Please watch the video about the Globe then click on each picture below to find the answers to questions 11-21. Each link is a different part of the website. VIDEO LINK #1 Link #2

Part III: Macbeth Use the links to find the answers to questions 22-26 about Macbeth, the man and the play. Link # 1 Link # 2

Part IV: The Myth For questions 27-29, please examine the links about the Shakespeare authorship question. Click on the picture.

Finale For question 30, watch the video made by two history teachers from Hawaii.

Evaluation Print off your answers for the WebQuest and bring it to class on the assigned day. We will go over them in class together and have a student and teacher led discussion about everything Shakespeare. You will receive a quiz grade for your correct answers.
