Let’s Build a Smarter Planet Enabling Sustainability Rich Lechner Vice President, Energy & Environment July 14, 2010 Let’s Build a Smarter Planet Enabling Sustainability

The need for progress is clear 170 billion Kilowatt-hours wasted each year by consumers due to insufficient power usage information. 50% water loss Impact to many municipalities’ water supply through leaky infrastructure. 3.7 billion lost hours 2.3 billion gallons of gas Annual impact of congested roadways in the U.S. alone.

Something profound is happening Our world is becoming INSTRUMENTED + Our world is becoming INTERCONNECTED = + Virtually all things, processes and ways of working are becoming INTELLIGENT

The benefits can be substantial 15% peak load reduction Smart Grid Project: Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Consumers saved an average of 10% on their electricity bills. 20 million gallons saved Smart Water: IBM Burlington chip manufacturing Resulted in $3 million annual savings 20% reduction in traffic Smart Traffic System: Stockholm, Sweden Emissions lowered by 12%, public transport usage increased by 40,000 .

Economic sustainability Operational sustainability Organizations are focused on achieving Economic sustainability Operational sustainability Environmental sustainability 5

IBM is working with organizations worldwide to leverage Technology Innovation Business Analytics & Optimization Deep Industry Insight

In order to build sustainable Infrastructure Instrumented, interconnected, and enabled by intelligent energy management. Operations Accounting for the environmental and social impacts of doing business. Systems Optimized at macro level –utility grid, transportation system, water infrastructure

Urban sustainability, green job creation, climate change mitigation, … The ROI of sustainability will be manifest in multiple dimensions: Operational value Energy efficiency, process optimization, utilization of assets, GHG emissions, … Brand value Environmental impact, workforce health & well-being, market expansion, … Societal value Urban sustainability, green job creation, climate change mitigation, … 11

Integration of energy and asset management to lower operating cost. kika\Leiner Cost take out cost and improved efficiency of IT and other infrastructure. Ave Maria University Integration of energy and asset management to lower operating cost. San Francisco PUC Eliminating waste emissions into the bay and improving operations Designed and built new energy efficient scalable modular data center, reducing electrical usage by up to 40%. The new data center extended their environmental strategy to include their IT infrastructure. Converged 23 systems to single IP network. Integrated JCI Metasys with IBM Maximo. Saved $1M in building costs and $350K/yr in combined operating costs. New insight into physical infrastructure and maintenance operations has led to an 11% improvement in the ratio of preventive to corrective maintenance across 3000 miles of pipeline.

Eaton Designing new hybrid systems that can reduce fuel consumption in urban delivery vehicles up to 70%. Developed a hybrid hydraulic powertrain system for UPS. If half of all urban delivery vehicles in the U.S. used this type of technology, we could save more than $1.5 billion annually in fuel cost, and reduce CO2 emissions by 8m metric tons. COSCO Consolidating distribution centers to reduce emissions by 15% and fuel costs by 25%. After analyzing its operations across product development, sourcing, production, warehousing and distribution, the Chinese shipping giant consolidated its distribution centers from 100 to 40 to prevent 100,000 tons of emissions each year. Singapore Lowering congestion and carbon emissions by influencing traffic patterns on a city scale. Developing one of the world’s most sophisticated, smart transportation systems leveraging road pricing; integrated fare management; and deep analytics to predict and avoid traffic congestion up to an hour in advance with 85% accuracy.

E.D.I.S.O.N. Project Research subsidized by the Danish ForskEL 2009 Dong Energy Knows exact location of outage instantly dispatches crew to fix the problem. CenterPoint Energy Pioneering deployment of an intelligent utility network featuring outage detection. E.D.I.S.O.N. Project Research subsidized by the Danish ForskEL 2009 funding scheme. Denmark’s largest power producer installed remote monitoring and control devices to gain an unprecedented level of information about the current state of the grid, lessening outage times by a potential 25-50%. Houston utility installing over 2 million smart meters and in some cases an energy controller for household devices. Homeowners will be able to access their usage information in home displays or on a personal website to make smarter consumption decisions. Short for Electric vehicles in a Distributed and Integrated market using Sustainable energy and Open Networks, this project is developing an energy management system that balances the charging of electric vehicles on the grid in order to stabilize availability.

Malta 70 million euro, five-year plan to design and deliver a nationwide Smart Grid implementation UK DeFRA Used statistical modeling to determine energy usage and calculate CO2 reductions. City of Dubuque Integrated view of energy management reduces energy costs and the city’s overall carbon footprint End-to-end electricity and water smart utility system will completely transform the relationship between Maltese consumers and utilities suppliers, while enabling more efficient consumption of energy and water. Plans to decrease carbon emissions by more than 2,000 metric tons of CO2 per year, and cut ICT energy costs by more than 30 percent—roughly US$500,000 in operational savings annually. Monitoring and alerting system connected to city management and consumers via the Internet lets consumers know about water waste and enables them to take corrective measures.
