Genesis 12:1-7-13:8-9/ Ephesians 4:17-24 Positioned to Make a Mark PT3 Positioned for GREATNESS: The Principles of Separation

The Principles of Separation RECAP GOD CALLS US TO A NEW PLACE OF UNFAMILIARITY Abram was called to walk in the Unfamiliar He was told to leave his: Country - Security/complacency Family -Traits/familiarity Father’s House - Influence/guidance

The Principles of Separation Defining Greatness: I am Called to be Exceptionally Outstanding in the Purpose Designed for Me

The Principles of Separation The Unfamiliar Causes us to: Trust God totally with our life Agree with what He’s doing with our life Separate us from the obstructions of our old life Develop an intimate Relationship with the Father of life

The Principles of Separation We already examined 4 principles for Trusting God With Our Life! Trust requires action/activity Trust does NOT look for options/alternatives Trust does NOT compromise under pressure Trust must be aligned to God’s Word

The Principles of Separation Last week we examined 4 principles of Agreement: An Agreement requires me to Honor what God has said (by) An Agreement requires me to Trust what God has said An Agreement requires me to understand what God is saying An Agreement requires me to say what God is saying

The Principles of Separation Separation requires there to be a Disconnection, Disassociation Disjoining Disbanding… ….Or ABANDONMENT of Our former life apart from God the Father and His kingdom

The Principles of Separation Scripture identifies 2 types of Separation: What we are to Separate from Who we are to Separate unto

The Principles of Separation We are to Separate from those things/people That effect our destiny Gen 13:9-11 It disrupts my life in Christ That effect our persona Eph 5:8 (NIV) It prevents me from Looking like Christ That effect our Perception in Christ Rom 8:5-7 It infects my thoughts of Christ That effect our Relationships with Christ 1Jn 1:5-7(NRSV) It distracts me from walking with Christ

The Principles of Separation Another word for Separation in reference to God is – Holiness

The Principles of Separation For a Believer to be “holy” is to: hate evil/sin Ps 97:10 abandon every sinful/evil deed, Prov28:13 (CJB) separate from anyone and everything that is evil Neh 9:2 obey God concerning His view of sin/evil Rom 6:16 (NLT) For God did not call us to impurity but in holiness 1Thes4:7

The Principles of Separation Holiness, when applied to God, emphasizes: His perfect goodness His moral perfection, His separation from anything profane, or evil

The Principles of Separation God imputes his Holiness in us at Salvation God expects us to walk in that Holiness The more we walk with God, the more we experience the manifestation of his Holiness

The Principles of Separation Holiness for us is a Manifestation of “God’s Moral Integrity” which helps develop, identify and represent God’s characteristics in: What we do What we say What we think…in Public & Private

The Principles of Separation Words that describes Holy/Holiness (God’s Moral Integrity) Pure – No defilement (No Hidden or obscure agenda) 1 Thes 2:10 Sacred/Consecrated – Set apart for a Divine agenda 1Chron 15:14(NIV) Saintly –imputed with God’s moral integrity for Kingdom use Eph 5:3 Separated – Separated to God for His purposes Acts 13:2/Num 8:14

The Principles of Separation Moral Integrity (Holiness) is our license(responsibility) to act in accordance to the values, principles, virtues and ethics already imputed upon us by God through the act of Christ 1Peter 15-16

The Principles of Separation We measure our own moral integrity (Holiness) by our willingness to walk obediently in accordance to God’s righteous moral system. Colossians 3:12 (NLT)

The Principles of Separation 7 With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. 18 Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. 19 They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.  20 But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21 Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Eph 4:17-24

The Principles of Separation Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Heb 12:4(NLT)
