BETTER HEALTHCARE BUILDINGS Introduction to Infrastructure Unit Support Systems (IUSS) TRAINING COURSE: OCTOBER 2017

About IUSS IUSS aims to optimise the acquisition and management of South Africa's public healthcare infrastructure.

Introduction to IUSS By the end of the week-long training, professionals active in healthcare facility architectural design and engineering will be sensitised to the unique demands of healthcare facility design and engineering in the South African context.

Introduction to IUSS Participants will be informed of relevant South African acts, laws, regulations and standards…

Introduction to IUSS … be advised of applicable forums, resource material available and shown how to access these…

Introduction to IUSS …introduced to role-players, roles, responsibilities and downstream impacts of programming, briefing, budgeting, commissioning and maintenance…

… …also be introduced to theory of healing spaces, evidence-based design, and salutogenesis…

… …be made aware of engineering and environmental risks and mechanisms of iatrogenic, healthcare associated infection, nosocomial and occupationally acquired infection…

… …attend a guided tour of critical mechanical services and clinical equipment…

…discuss materials, specification, details and finishes…

…and also participate in interdisciplinary workshops to foster improved collaboration and communication.

Each event Will accommodate: a maximum of 60 delegates 5 days 30 lectures, site visit. 2 workshops
