Love vs Love signs LOVE Romantic Shows an affection towards parents, children, family, and friends LOVE-IT (kiss-fist) Non-romantic “love” for things or people. Is often used instead of “like a lot” or similar phrases.

New signs FINE SICK TIRED LOUSY ALL-RIGHT WONDERFUL

Activity Ask your partner how he/she is. Student A: Good morning! How are you? Student B: Good morning. I am fine. How are you? Student A: I am great. Thank you.

ASL Grammar ASL grammar structure does not always depend on signing a complete sentence, but your facial expression! Using facial expression will convey your signed message, like changing your voice tone. Without facial expression, your signed message is meaningless.

Facial Expression Practice: Sad Happy Excited Sarcastic Angry Shocked

Basic ASL sentences I am fine. Sad Happy I am fine. Sarcastic Angry

More examples I don’t feel so good. I am so exhausted. (grimace + shaking your head) I am so exhausted. (exaggerate your facial expression & sign “TIRED” slowly) Starbucks tastes so good! (smile + nodding your head)

Activity Ask your partner how he/she is again. Discuss if your partner’s response is what you thought: Positive reaction? Negative reaction? No reaction?
