Module description A broad survey of the rise and fall of the British empire We begin by exploring the rise of maritime empires and the English East India Company We explore the global spread of British power while we also focus on key themes within British imperial history, including ideology, gender, race, religion, and nature. We conclude with an exploration of the aftermath of empire and resonations of the empire in contemporary Britain.
