Influence of Religion on Indian Politics

The communal animosity between Hindus and Muslims is largely the creation of British rulers. The Britishers created separate electorate for Hindus and Muslims and other minority communities.

After Independence steps were taken to destroy the evil impact of communalism and to promote communal harmony between various communities. In extreme situation it may to separatist movement.
