CULINARY ARTS You are welcome to wear your Chef’s Attire during the STAR Events Recognition Session

Star Events Participants & Skilled Demonstration Participants Follow your event specifications for dress & wear appropriate clothing for the nature of your presentation

SPECIAL EVENT If you are attending the Special Event you are required to follow the mandatory dress policy for the Business Session. You are encouraged to bring casual attire to change into rather than returning to your room to avoid missing the bus departure

GALA ALL PARTICIPANTS Females & Males – Advisers & Members Semi-formal You are able to wear semi-formal attire to the Closing General Session if you are attending the Gala. Jeans, t-shirts, athletic wear and athletic shoes are NOT allowed or appropriate at the Gala

ATTIRE THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT FCCLA SESSIONS Skin-tight or revealing clothing Midriff-baring clothing Extremely short skirts (shorter than 2 inches above the knee) Clothing with printing that is suggestive, obscene or promotes illegal substances Athletic clothing Swimwear Rubber, beach type flip flops Night wear (pajamas) should not be worn outside of your hotel room

What is too casual? THIS IS! Strapless dresses, shorts, flip flops, pullovers/zip-ups and beach wear are all inappropriate for the workplace.

What Is Inappropriate Attire For FCCLA? Any clothing that has words, terms, or pictures that may be offensive to other employees is unacceptable. [Discuss “offensive”] Clothing that has the Department’s logo is encouraged. T-shirts are not acceptable unless specifically authorized for dress down days. However, knit, short-sleeved shirts with collars (Polo shirts) are acceptable. Sports team, university, and fashion brand names on clothing are generally unacceptable, except for dress down days.

Jewelry, Makeup, Perfume and Cologne: Should be in good taste, with no visible body piercing other than pierced ears. Hats and Head Covering: Hats and caps are not appropriate in sessions. Head Covers that are required for religious purposes or to honor cultural tradition are allowed. Typically the standard for fingernail length is no longer than the tip of the finger. This standard only applies to staff authorized through training to restrain a juvenile. However, if your fingernail length interferes with the effectiveness and efficiency of your job performance – how well and how quickly you can perform those duties (i.e., typing, washing clothes, etc…), then you should trim your nails to the standard length (not to extend beyond the finger tip). Also, if you or your supervisor believe the length of your nails might present a safety risk (such as: cause injury during a physical confrontation), you are required to trim them to the standard length. During RCDT training, no staff member may wear false nails or have fingernail length extend beyond the tip of each finger.

Please be on time for sessions! Wear your name badge as it is required for admission to each session! Excessive make-up should be avoided. Hair rollers, sometimes called curlers, are prohibited at work.

Violations of Dress Code If a FCCLA member or adviser chooses NOT to follow or meet the “FCCLA Official Business Casual Dress Standards” . . . they choose NOT to be admitted to the session or event If you have to ask yourself, “I wonder if this would be appropriate for work?”, then it probably isn’t appropriate for work. You are encouraged to seek guidance from your supervisor when you have questions about what is appropriate to wear to work.
