Naviance Family Connections Lebanon High School 2016-2017

What is Naviance? Naviance is a college and career readiness software provider that partners with high schools and other K–12 institutions to provide students with college planning and career assessment tools.

Why do I need it? There are so many useful tools for matching interests and careers, college planning, and college search tools. We encourage you to explore the site when you are on it. BUT….. The most important part we need to address ASAP is requesting transcripts and matching your Common Application account to this system. We will no longer be using paper transcript requests. We hope to make everything electronic.

Step 1: Access your account **If you are able to follow along during this presentation using your phone or another device, we recommend doing so. If not, you can find this presentation on the guidance department page at www.lebanonschools.org. Go to the following website: http://connection.naviance.com/lebhs In most cases your username/email is lastname.firstname Your password should be your lunch code with a zero in front If this does not work, let your TEAM teacher know. They will get us a list and we will reset your password. DO NOT CREATE YOUR OWN PASSWORD!

Step 2: Add colleges and match to Common App Under the “Colleges” tab, click “Colleges I’m Applying to”

If you already have a Common App Account, you must match it to this Naviance account for your counselor to be able to send those transcripts. You must enter the same email address that you used for Common Application to match the accounts. If you haven’t created a Common App account yet, do this step when you do. If the school is not a Common Application school, this step is not necessary. You can actually minimize that box by clicking “Not Needed” in the right hand corner.

Add the colleges you plan to apply to by clicking the “add to this list” button and searching for your schools. Add any school for which you may need a transcript sent.

Click “request transcripts” to request that your counselor send paperwork to those colleges. You must make a request for each college.

Step 3: Wait for your counselor to send your documents. College documents will start to be sent in early September which still meets all college deadlines. Please be patient as we all learn this new system. More to come on using Naviance for teacher recommendations as Naviance has not yet released the process for this. You should still be asking teachers to prepare them in the meantime giving them plenty of time to write good letters for you! Direct questions to your TEAM teacher who will compile a list of questions and send them to the guidance office. We will have an additional training next week in TEAM which will answer those questions. You will no longer be filling out blue transcript request forms in the guidance office.
