Lord: Yes in all things

Yes in all things: (Something missing) Matthew 19:16f - Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” ”Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” “Which ones?” he inquired.

Yes in all things: Matthew 19:16f – Jesus replied, “’You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.

Yes in all things: Matthew 19:16f – “Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for the rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

Yes in all things: Matthew 19:16f – When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With human beings this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Yes in all things: A door called "yes" in the soul. Can't find more without this door. First, to access the fullness of God we must empty ourselves. In humility we come to God alone for more. We trust God alone, depend on God alone, receive from God alone. (What must I do?) We too often make it too much about us, and too little about God. (HS weekends; Dmin, conference) If we feel like we have to earn love, we give to a point. But, we are looking to get something out of it. We are looking to receive. If we feel like we are giving, and not receiving enough back in return, then we stop giving. It is a tit for tat relationship. What have you done for me lately. But, if we know we are loved and we have deeply received love, then are free to give. We can’t give what we don’t have.

Yes in all things: First, to access the fullness of God we must empty ourselves. In humility we come to God alone for more. Humility is key. (All these I have kept). In humility, we need to be ruthlessly honest. Light is a gift, not an intrusion. We must humble ourselves before God to see our need of God. Humility is the mother of all virtue. Humility is the platform of breakthrough. If we feel like we have to earn love, we give to a point.

Yes in all things: Second, to access the fullness of God we must say yes to God in all things. The missing command. Why does Jesus leave out the most important command? To love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. If we feel like we have to earn love, we give to a point.

Yes in all things: Second, to access the fullness of God we must say yes to God in all things. Whenever you say no to God, you love that thing more than God in your life. For the rich young ruler, it is money. The problem is we are looking to that thing to fill the empty spaces, but it cannot. We must say yes to God to find God's fullness. ($, marriage, forgiveness, repentance) If we feel like we have to earn love, we give to a point.
