12-07-16 Learning Objective I can explain the relationship between plate boundaries and earthquakes and volcanoes.

Activity: Plotting Earthquakes & Volcanoes Checklist Plot volcanoes using red triangles. Plot earthquakes using black dots. Draw in, lightly color, and label (names) the Earth’s tectonic plates on your map using pages 211 or 35B and R62 as a guide. Draw arrows on each plate showing the type of plate boundary (divergent, convergent, transform). Answer the 5 map conclusion questions in complete sentences (IQIA).

Activity: Plotting Earthquakes & Volcanoes Conclusion Questions Answer the 5 map conclusion questions in complete sentences (IQIA). Where are most earthquakes and volcanoes located? List the 3 types of plate boundaries and give an example of each type from your map [identify the 2 plates for each]. What type of plate boundary generally causes earthquakes? What type of plate boundary generally forms volcanoes? Describe how volcanoes are formed at the plate boundary identified in question 4.
