Presentation transcript:

Design Project 2

Option 1

Option 1 Redesign heat exchanger, especially, redesign internal air-flow through geometry Using AM technology to manufacturing heat exchanger

Option 2

Option 4

Requirement Design a bracket for a 7 port USB hub

Requirement Design a bracket for vertical mounting

Requirement Design a bracket for stacking three Hubs together

Requirement Design a bracket for mounting horizontally Design new cable retention for USB and Power cables

Option 5

There are different 3D printing processes : Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Binder Jetting, Stereolithography (SLA), Poly-Jet, Fused Deposition Modelling/Fused Filament Fabrication (FDM/FFF), etc. Traditional manufacturing processes: injection molding, CNC, plastic forming, plastic joining, etc.

Assignment Download Project 2—1st Assignment Option 1: Option 2: Due next Thursday, submit to Dropbox Option 1: Understand current air flow through geometry Understand better air flow thru geometry designs Understand current heat exchanger manufacturing process Why AM is good for new exchanger? Make a word file. Submit to Dropbox: Project 2 – 2nd Assignment, due next Thu Option 2: Understanding airplane tail structure How to reduce high shock loads when landing, what is behind principle?

Assignment Option 4: Option 5: Search existed products, which satisfy design requirements, Make a word file. Submit to Dropbox: Project 2 – 2nd Assignment, due next Thu Option 5: What sort of products should use AM? What sort of product features should use AM? Search LM company products, identify your target product; understanding product features as well as current manufacturing process
