“In what way…” Malachi 3:13-14

Malachi 3:13-14 "Your words have been harsh against Me,“ Says the Lord,“ Yet you say,' What have we spoken against You? 'You have said, 'It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the Lord of hosts?

In What way… Have you loved us… "I have loved you," says the Lord. "Yet you say, 'In what way have You loved us? 'Was not Esau Jacob 's brother? "Says the Lord. "Yet Jacob I have loved; Malachi 1:2

In What way… Have you loved us… I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25

In What way… Have we defiled your name? "A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, 'In what way have we despised Your name? ‘ Malachi 1:6

In What way… Have we defiled your name? He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name. Psalm 111:9 The KJV translates awesome here as “reverend”.

In What way… Have we wearied you? You have wearied the Lord with your words; Yet you say, "In what way have we wearied Him?“ In that you say," Everyone who does evil Is good in the sight of the Lord, And He delights in them,“ Or, " Where is the God of justice?“ Malachi 2:17

In What way… Have we wearied you? Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, Will suddenly come to His temple, Even the Messenger of the covenant, In whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,“ Says the Lord of hosts. "But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire And like launderers ' soap. Malachi 3:1-2

In What way… Have we robbed you? "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say,‘ In what way have we robbed You? 'In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8

In What way… Have we robbed you? You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,“ Says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:9-10

What have we spoken against you "Your words have been harsh against Me,“ Says the Lord, "Yet you say,' What have we spoken against You? ‘ Malachi 3:13

What have we spoken against you You have said, 'It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the Lord of hosts? Malachi 3:14

How does this affect us today? Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4

How does this affect us today? idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, Galatians 5:20

How does this affect us today? Such a sinful attitude requires repentance. "For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven, And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,“ Says the Lord of hosts,“ That will leave them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall- fed calves. Malachi 4:1-2

What about you? Do you have this attitude or a similar frame of mind? Such a viewpoint is unpleasing to God? Are you ready to repent?
