Open Splat Create a project folder to save assets in Open a blank PS file Open (File > Open or Ctrl + O) the resources folder and choose from any of the splat or spatter pictures—d-click to open NOTE: Instructions are written for the PC, indicated keyboard shortcuts will have to be substituted for MAC users. From the open image file, select the splat—(the magic wand tool works best for this) When selected, Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) Splat (without background) goes to a new layer

Select Splat – Magic Wand Tool From the open image file, select the splat—(the magic wand tool works best for this) Select Magic Wand tool from toolbar Drag wand across splat; use the “add to Selection” in the Options bar to refine selection by clicking on any unselected areas Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) Splat (without background) goes to a new layer

Saving & Loading Selections Save a Selection With your object selected and active Go to Select Menu > Save Selection Give your selection a name; click OK Load a Saved Selection Go to Select Menu > Load Selection Use Channel Source drop down to find your saved selection

Change Color With splat selected, d-click foreground color box on toolbar and choose a color from the palette Select the Paint Bucket tool and click on the selected splat; color will be applied Click on any stray uncolored spots if needed

Modify Shape – Transform Tool On the top layer with the splat selected Press Ctrl + T for the Transform bounding box to appear Rt-click inside the selection and choose any of the transform tools from the sub-menu Experiment with the different choices to see how they modify the splat

Layer Opacity Click and drag the layer opacity slider located above the layers palette to fade out
