Serving MS and the Nation The MSNG is a relevant and ready force that stands ready to deploy for any contingency in Mississippi and abroad. The Guard is the state’s largest employer with approximately 12,500 Soldiers and Airmen representing all parts of MS. Our membership represents men and women from all walks of life in various professions. They represent the most diverse workforce in the state with a minority percentile of 35%. The MSNG possesses the highest educated workforce in the state. The Guard is exemplified by its quality workforce, but also helps the state’s economy. In fiscal year 2015, $488 million federal dollars were allocated for the MSNG / $8.5 in state (approximate figures) Currently Deployed: Approximately 130 Soldiers and Airmen, both stateside and abroad. Whether it’s a tornado or hurricane, or contingency operations in the Middle East, the MSNG continues to answer the call for duty at home and across the world. Taking the Fight to the Enemy Abroad Since 2002, more than 20,000 Magnolia Soldiers and Airmen deployed in support of military contingency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have one Silver Star recipient and more than 1,000 Bronze stars have been awarded to our Guardsmen since 9-11. Twelve of those have been with Valor. State Partnership Program MSNG CounterDrug Task Force Friends & Communities State Partnership Program The State Partnership Program establishes enduring relationships with partner nations of strategic value. Promotes national objectives, stability, partner capacity, and better understanding and trust. The MSNG began its partnership with Bolivia in 1999 and Uzbekistan in 2012. MSNG CounterDrug Task Force Coalition of National Guard members, law enforcement agencies, and local communities combatting drugs and drug-related violence. The MSNG provides high-quality military personnel and equipment to support federal, state, and local dreg LEAs as well as community-based organizations. The Mississippi National Guard currently maintains State Partnership Program relationships with Uzbekistan and Bolivia. Our force’s mission is to establish and sustain enduring relationships with partner nations of strategic value in conjunction with National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy, Department of State and Combatant Command Theater Security Cooperation guidance to promote national objectives, stability, partner capacity, better understanding and trust. The Mississippi National Guard’s partnership with Bolivia began in 1999 and work with Uzbekistan commenced in February 2012. This low-cost program is administered by the National Guard Bureau, guided by State Department foreign policy goals, and executed by the state adjutants general in support of combatant commander and U.S. Chief of Mission security cooperation objectives and Department of Defense policy goals. The Mississippi National Guard CounterDrug Program is a vital member of a coalition of National Guard members, law enforcement agencies, and local communities, which are involved in a multi-front battle against drugs and drug-related violence. The mission of the program is to provide high-quality military personnel and equipment to support federal, state, and local drug LEAs as well as community-based organizations that work to reduce the demand for drugs. The MS CDTF currently consists of Army National Guard Soldiers and Air National Guard Airmen on full-time active duty status in accordance with Title 32, Section 112, United States Code. These Soldiers and Airmen are from National Guard units throughout the state and perform CounterDrug duties in a support role.
