A CALL TO ACTION

45 Million Stories. One Mission.

We are all facing addiction in some way.

A STAGGERING SITUATION Every 4 minutes, someone in the U.S. dies from drug or alcohol addiction – the equivalent of a jet crashing every day. 20 million Americans are suffering 23 million more are in recovery 1 in 3 households are personally impacted

…ONLY GROWING IN URGENCY “We must recognize that addiction is not a moral failing. It is a chronic illness that must be treated with skill, urgency and compassion.” – US Surgeon General, Vivek H. Murthy Upon releasing the November 2016 landmark report: Facing Addiction In America

ADDICTION’S TOLL ON THE WORKPLACE Addiction costs the U.S. $442 billion every year – 70% of which comes directly from lost productivity in the private sector. Addiction isn’t just impacting families and communities, it is impacting the American economy.

A 1-hour broadcast special, “The Concert To Face Addiction” aired 320 times on PBS Affiliates reaching 71% of US households .

We coordinated 500 meetings in Congress on a single day (Oct 5, 2015), which led to July 2016 passage of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA).

We catalyzed 400+ diverse organizations reaching more than 28 million people to amplify the national message and action agenda

Hosted two groundbreaking educational national “Caucus to Face Addiction” events at the 2016 Republican National Convention and Democratic National Conventions

We partnered with the United States Surgeon General to launch - Facing Addiction In America – the first-ever Surgeon General’s Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health on November 17, 2016

Produced a commercial-free television special, “Listen,” featuring celebrity talent and the US Surgeon General, airing simultaneously across 11 major Viacom networks

We’ve secured hundreds of millions of media impressions in less than 18 months.

A BROAD BASE OF SUPPORT

Close the 90% treatment gap among those suffering. TOGETHER WE CAN Continue to battle negative public attitudes surrounding individuals suffering from addiction through national and local educational efforts. Develop more effective prevention, early intervention, and recovery support programs. Close the 90% treatment gap among those suffering. Fight the discrimination that punishes even those in recovery from addiction.

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE Help us build a national movement to forever change how we face addiction. Together, we can save lives – starting now.
