Day 17 – September 20th and 21st Objective: To write linear equations that model real world data and to make predictions from linear models

Scatter Plot

Trend Lines A trend line is a line that approximates the relationship between the variables, or data sets, of a scatter plot. It will always be a linear equation, some trend lines are more accurate then other depending on the trend line You can pick two points to write an equation for your trend line. (What form of linear equations do you start with?)

Using a Scatter Plot

Making a Scatter Plot What is the independent variable (x) what is the dependent variable (v) Label your x and y axis with the appropriate units Fill in your intervals on the x and y axis. It is best to make these the same. Plot all the data Estimate the trend line by hand Find the equation of the trend line (pick 2 points from your trend line)

Make a Scatter Plot and find your trend line (contest)

Make a Scatter Plot and find your trend line

Make a Scatter Plot and find your trend line
