SAMR: A model & language for integration (Think Bloom’s Taxonomy for tech integration!) SAMR model on YouTube A way to assess and reflect on your and your students’ use of technology substitution instead of passing out paper, you pass out a PDF instead of writing out an essay, you type it use a digital textbook augmentation pass out a PDF and allow student to annotate with text and photos use a digital textbook, look up definitions, create digital notecards ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- modification use google docs to co-write a report with classmates, commenting in realtime redefinition provide video and audio feedback for student essays that they can watch on their own time students sharing and giving feedback to peers’ work using screencasting students creating multimedia ePubs as portfolios of understanding *Ruben R. Puentedura, As We May Teach: Educational Technology, From Theory Into Practice. (2009)
SAMR can help you: see how technology can impact teaching and learning and follow a progression of: Substitution Augmentation Modification Redefinition prioritize and identify student engagement and student goals re-work “consumption” stations into “creation” stations

Chatterpix Hello Kindergarten Parents, This week we read Pigsty by Mark Teague, we had a fun and exciting week. As you know, we take a book each week and jump in for an interactive read aloud. This helps us teach with deep comprehension. On Thursday, the children drew their own pig during a directed drawing. We thought it would be fun to turn their pictures into a Chatterpix. Each child was recorded telling their favorite part of the story. Have fun watching your child's video. Enjoy! Warmly, Beth, Laura & Karlyn
