Presentation transcript:

Our Patron St Vincent de Paul Ordained a priest at the age of 19 “It is not enough to give bread and soup. This the rich can do. You are a servant of the poor. The more difficult they may be, the more love you must give them.” Founded the Congregation of the Mission & cofounded the Daughters of Charity Worked closely with Louise de Marillac Our Patron - St Vincent de Paul Saint of France, born in 1581 and died in 1660. Born to a poor farming family and longed for a life of wealth. He was ordained a priest at aged 19 to pave the way from need to nobility. Vincent underwent a spiritual crisis in his life that resulted in a desire to help the poor. He pledged his life to helping people in need. Founded an order of priests: the Congregation of the Mission and, along with St Louise de Marillac, cofounded an order of sisters: the Daughters of Charity. He was chosen by Frederic Ozanam and his friends as the Patron of the St Vincent de Paul Society. His basic vision was simply that the Good News of Jesus Christ should be shown to the poor through acts of service. This has since become the mission of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
