FRANCE

France is a country in western Europe. The First Republic of France, was founded on 21, September 1792 during the French Revolution. The First Republic lasted until the declaration of the First Empire in 1804 under Napoleon Bonaparte, although the form of the government changed several times. Raymond Poincare was the President of France in 1914.

Allies British Empire Russian Empire.

Long term reason The Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 resulted with French defeat. France lost the territories of Alsace and Lorraine to the Germans. These two territories had many resources, that were important for the economy of France.

Short term reasons The assassination of Franz Ferdinand and the ultimatum of Austro-Hungarian Empire put pressure in Europe for the start of the war. Germany was getting ready for war, and it was it’s plan to go into war with France, in order to invade it. This was a good opportunity to get back our lost territories.
