Description : Indication : Pharmacodynamics : NA It is indicated for individuals suspected of exposure to rabies, particularly severe exposure, with one exception: persons who have been previously immunized with HDCV Rabies Vaccine in a pre-exposure or postexposure treatment series should receive only vaccine. Mechanism of action : It provides passive protection by neutralizing the rabies virus when given to individuals exposed to rabies virus. When a rabies immune globulin dose of 20 IU/kg was given simultaneously with the first dose of rabies vaccine, levels of passive anti-rabies antibody were detected 24 hours after injection in all individuals. There was minimal or no interference with the immune response to the initial and subsequent doses of rabies vaccine, including booster doses.
