Orientation Auditorium: Met with division, announcements, proceeded to “classes” with mentors Reviewed information in folders: Mentor Introduction, Who’s Who at Lane, FAQ’s, counseling and related services, Map, etc. Scavenger hunt to become familiar with the building Lock Game- learning to use a combination lock Schedules distributed- followed in order Q & A with Mentors, Pinhole Eclipse viewers Lunch and eclipse on the lawn
Quick Start Enter through auditorium turn in forms Yearbook picture Program station (got schedules today) If paying fees, go to fee station School store for optional purchases If no fees, go to cafeteria (get textbooks, gym uniforms, locks, etc) Exit out to parking lot
First Day of School Freshmen report to the Auditorium FIRST thing -> announcements & welcome First Hour- Division Schedules re-distributed Locker assignments Schedule issues? See Ms. Johnson during lunch period Email Ms. Johnson at tecarroll@cps.edu Lunch Free lunch in the cafeteria, on campus

Notes AP Human Geography- updated CPS Algebra Exit Exam Possibility of minor schedule changes- first day Mentors assist with Gradebook, Quick Start Ventra cards & Student ID’s will be distributed to students on the first day of school. Gym uniforms can be exchanged, workbooks, textbooks, etc. will be taken care of throughout the first week T-shirts available- school store Teachers will become primary contact
Setting Up Parent Portal Step One: Establishing an Account From an Internet accessible computer, access http://parent.cps.k12.il.us OR lanetech.org (parent portal on the main page) Ignore the Username and Password fields and click on the link labeled Click here to sign up. This will take you to a Parent Account Signup Page and walk you through a series of prompts See handout Student PIN required to link to your account to your student’s records * Recommended Parent Portal Check every 2-3 days -kids might claim to have it under control, please just double/triple check for a few months.
